Padmapriya Janakiraman, better known as Padmapriya, is an Indian actress and model. Padmapriya made her film debut in the Telugu film Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi in 2003, after which she appeared in several films in South Indian. In five years, she has appeared in Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi and has received several awards. She is best known for her critically acclaimed performances in Kaazhcha, Karutha Pakshikal, Pazhassi Raja and Tamil, Thavamai Thavamirundhu and Mirugam.
Padmapriya was born in Delhi to Tamil parents Janakiraman, Brigadier of the Indian Army and Vijaya, and grew up in Punjab.
She also holds a degree in Environmental Law from the National Law School of India University and a Master of Public Administration from New York University.
Padmapriya is married to Jasmine Shah on November 12, 2014 in Mumbai. She is from Gujarat and is the South Asia Policy Officer at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, headquartered at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She met him while they were both pursuing their masters at Columbia and New York University.
